Privacy Policy
Botanote works without an account. Your saved plants and care history stay on your device. A photo leaves your device only when you choose to request plant identification.
Information processed by Botanote
Plant photos. When you tap Identify, Botanote compresses the selected image and sends it through our secure processing endpoint to our contracted AI API service provider. The image is used to generate suggested plant matches and general care information. Our application endpoint does not intentionally save the image or response body and we do not use the image for advertising or model training.
Local plant records. Confirmed plant names, photos, rooms, reminders, and care events are stored locally on your device. Deleting a plant removes its local care history. Removing the app may remove all locally stored Botanote data.
Purchases. If you purchase Botanote Plus, payment is processed by Apple. The app uses Apple StoreKit to read and verify your current purchase entitlement on your device. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Support messages. If you email us, we receive the address and information you choose to include so we can reply.
How information is used
- Provide plant-identification suggestions requested by you.
- Maintain your local collection and reminders.
- Verify Plus access and restore purchases.
- Respond to support, privacy, and correction requests.
- Protect the service from abuse and excessive automated requests.
Service providers
Botanote routes identification requests through infrastructure operated by Shenzhen Sixteen Types Technology Co., Ltd., uses a contracted AI API service provider to analyze requested plant photos, and uses Apple to process App Store purchases. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.
Retention
Our self-hosted identification endpoint is designed not to persist plant images or response bodies. Infrastructure security logs may temporarily retain technical request information such as time, response code, and IP address. The AI API service provider may process and retain submitted content according to its service agreement and privacy commitments. Local plant records remain until you delete them or the app. Purchase records are retained by Apple as required to provide and restore purchases. Support email is retained as needed to resolve the request and meet legal obligations.
Your choices
You can use the local collection without creating an account. You can deny Camera, Photos, or Notifications access in iOS Settings. You can delete individual plants in the app. Subscription management is available in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Children
Botanote is a general-audience plant utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request a child’s name, precise location, or contact information.
Important identification limitation
Plant matches and care information are suggestions. Do not use Botanote to decide whether a plant is edible, medicinal, or safe for a person or animal.
